Say ownership key to institution's future

VALPOI
Office bearers of the parents’ association of the Valpoi Navodaya Vidyalaya met Rajesh Lakhani, Chief Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, at the central office in New Delhi, to seek his intervention to resolve the land ownership issue.
Prominent parent representatives and petitioners in the court case—Subodh Desai, Dinesh Korde, and Parshuram Rathod—were present during the meeting.
A detailed discussion was held with the Delhi central committee delegation regarding the land ownership issue of Valpoi Navodaya Vidyalaya.
Subodh Desai stated that the land ownership matter has been pending before the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court for the past 20 years. While other repair and maintenance works of the school have been carried out, securing ownership of the land is essential for the institution’s long-term future, he emphasised.
In response, Chief Commissioner Rajesh Lakhani assured that necessary legal steps would be taken in the coming months by presenting the government’s position in court to resolve the land ownership issue.
He also assured that the tender process for constructing the school’s compound wall would be initiated immediately.
Due to the extremely poor condition of the existing compound wall, the High Court had earlier directed that repairs be undertaken and a new wall be constructed. Assurance was also given that action would be taken in compliance with this court order.
