“What has to happen will happen”: CM on cabinet reshuffle

PANAJI: Lack of clarity over a possible cabinet reshuffle continues, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant maintaining a cautious stance, saying, “What has to happen will happen.”

However, just last night, BJP State President Damodar Naik indicated that a reshuffle could take place before the Ganesh Festival.

Both the Chief Minister and Naik were in Delhi for the last two days, during which they had a series of meetings with senior BJP leaders and discussed various issues pertaining to the State and the Party.

Both the leaders returned to Goa last evening. While Naik hinted at possible changes in the cabinet soon, the Chief Minister adopted a cautious stance.

“What has to happen will happen,” Sawant told the media, reacting to the question on the cabinet reshuffle.

Speaking to reporters from the airport on Wednesday evening, Naik had said, “The reshuffle is the Chief Minister’s prerogative, but the central leadership and CM will decide on it. It may happen before Ganesh Chaturthi.” He added that he had held a series of meetings with senior BJP leaders in Delhi, discussing ways to strengthen the party.

Discussions around the reshuffle have been ongoing for months, with internal debates focusing on ministerial performance, regional representation, and preparations for the upcoming local body elections.
