The situation regarding drainage in Ward I of Ambelim panchayat in South Goa is very poor. The area resembles a slum in Mumbai and is highly prone to vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria. This issue was raised during the gram sabha meeting held on 17 August 2025.
The sarpanch had assured that the area would be disinfected and cleaned, and even promised a site inspection. However, no action has been taken so far. Residents of this ward are living under the constant risk of an outbreak.
We request that this matter be brought to the attention of the public through social and print media, so that the Director of Panchayats, BDO South Goa, and other concerned authorities can instruct the sarpanch and panchayat officials to immediately address the problem on priority.
