Panaji bus stand crumbling due to govt apathy

Monsoon showers have exposed the deteriorating state of the Panaji KTCL bus stand. KTCL completes 44 years but commuters are still left with crumbling infrastructure.  Potholes, minor garbage dumps, and bus shelters that leave much to be desired are common scenes across the Panaji and Mapusa KTC bus stands. Panaji being a smart city, the bus stand paints a very different picture. The public have been hearing announcements for a long time that the Panaji bus stand will get an upgrade with added facilities. Goa being an international tourist destination and Panaji being the face of the state, the condition of the major bus stand in the state is really saddening. In the monsoon, water stagnation is a common sight at the bus stand. Haphazard parking of private vehicles and two wheelers in front of hotel,  commercial establishments and often encroach on public pathways and roads, using them as parking or display areas at Panaji bus stand leads to safety hazards for pedestrians and commuters.  Most bus stands are found lacking basic accessibility features due to poor construction, lack of communication channels and awareness of disability-related issues.
