I see gram sabhas held at various villages in Goa and taking strong stand/resolutions on various important matters; and then there are quite a few villages where this is not happening as per the mandated time line. Colva village panchayat in Salcette, has missed conducting the gram sabha at least 2 times this year in 2025 ( April and July) and this is even more critical, as there are serious points to be address; including the issue of construction licences of multi housing/commercial etc being issued controversially, illegalities including in CRZ where authorities are turning a blind eye and other issues. Other than putting onus on citizens to file letter to BDO, is there no responsibility of the BDO, Director of Panchayats, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho that this basic governance ensures the villages have the gram sabha as mandated? As I mentioned earlier the panchayat minister seems to be preoccupied with other things and does not seem to have time to ensure basic levels of governance are followed for tax paying citizens. The Goa CM Pramod Sawant must hand the panchayat ministry to another MLA.
