Why only ST community areas targeted for IIT?

After Melauli, Sanguem and Canacona now IIT campus  project is planned to be set up in Bethora of Codar village. The people of Melauli and Sanguem earlier objected to it saying most of ST community lives in the village. The Bethora site of Codar is mostly occupied by ST community who live on agriculture. Chillies and other daily use items are cultivated by the villagers. According to residents of Bethora and Codar, most of them are Krishi card holders and agriculture is only source of income. They feel only ST community areas are targeted for land acquisition for such project. The only option now to the government is to see if any existing structure of manufacturing company which is closed  is available in industrial area like Verna and see if it's feasible as land required will be more than that available in industrial area. IIT campus requires large area to set up and it's possible only in remote areas. The people's objection to such project is only because they lose their land which is cultivated and not barren. Government should find alternative place and see if it is  useful for Goans in terms of employment opportunities and careers.
