The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is back and Goans (especially our Hindu brothers and sisters) are in a festive mood in Goa. Unfortunately, most roads which were dug up right across Goa citing various reasons a year back have still not been restored by the government. Well, the government annually keeps collecting huge sums of money challaning people on different internal village/national highway roads and by imposing various taxes with the promise of spending that money towards the maintenance of roads & giving world-class roads for road-users in Goa. Unfortunately, after looking at the condition of most roads in the state today, it looks like the government has absolutely no funds to restore roads but has crores of funds to waste only on 'naach-gaana' events and on political rallies in Goa. I think that a government which still cannot provide people with even the basic requirements, facilities like uninterrupted power supply, water and good decent roads in the state after so many years of Liberation despite collecting so many fines/ taxes should go at the very earliest for the betterment of Goans.
