I noted the interaction between Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the Karapur (Bicholim) protesters. The residents had met him to discuss a proposed commercial and residential real estate project in their area by a non-Goan firm with links to BJP politicians from outside Goa, particularly Maharashtra.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister appeared to advise against strong opposition and suggested possible compromises that could allow the project to move forward. This has led to some questions about how local views are being considered.
Earlier, in 2024, he had stated that he was not fully aware of the project and would study the matter. It would be useful to know whether his recent interaction reflects the outcome of that review.
