Now post the Arpora nightclub fire, the Goa BJP Govt is giving Goans the perception, that it is cracking down on illegal nightclubs in the north. Will they also take a proactive approach in South Goa or wait for a tragedy to take place first? There is a nightclub on Margao Colva Road (close to the beach) which is in a residential area and clearly illegal. The latter I suspect is only in operation because of the 'hafta culture' from local police and at least the local panchas. This particular club was in the news quite a few times for brawls or source of brawls. In a Colva gram sabha a Colvenkar had also pointed out to the then panchayat body about this club operating illegally but to date this club is still in operation.
