Social activists who sincerely try to help the society often become victims of threats and harassment by certain elements. Even worse, the government is maintaining a pretence that nothing is amiss. Today, in India whenever media and journalists try to keep a watch on shady government practice, often they are threatened with violence. Even people in the arts of late have become objects of censorship and restrictions. Any regime that comes to power on the plank of political mobilisation, will be forced to implement hate as its policy. Social activists bring about change for the better, try to ensure justice prevails – but they need protection. Only then they will be able to carry out their role in a fair manner.
