In a landmark welfare initiative, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has disbursed over Rs 1.26 crore in scholarships to 567 wards of its personnel under the revised DG’s Merit Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2024–25.
The new norms have extended the scholarship benefits to all wards of CISF personnel who score above 80% in Class 12, removing the earlier cap that limited the scheme to only 150 students annually. As a result, every eligible student has now been rewarded, ensuring no sense of exclusion.
For the first time, the scheme has also recognised sports achievers among CISF wards, with five students being awarded scholarships this year.
Further, enhanced support has been extended to the wards of CISF Bravehearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty, with eight such students benefiting in 2024–25.
To ensure ease and transparency, the application and approval process has been fully digitised, allowing CISF families across distant locations to apply without difficulty. Applications are now processed in a time-bound manner, with funds directly transferred to beneficiaries’ accounts.
Under the revised academic norms, students scoring between 80–90% have received Rs 20,000 each, while those securing above 90% marks have been granted Rs 25,000 each. A CISF spokesperson said the reforms have significantly boosted the morale of the Force, reinforcing its welfare-first approach. The initiative reflects CISF’s guiding motto: “Welfare Above All.”
