Veteran freedom fighter, decorated author, journalist and multifaceted personality Lambert Mascarenhas departed from our midst bodily but his spirit will continue to live long after he's gone.

He was bestowed "Padma Shree" in 2015 and Gomant Vibushan to mention a few. He was a prolific writer and through his writings he was able to convey and drive home his point of view whether pertaining to the freedom struggle of Goa or other walks of life.

As a freedom fighter he took part in the revolutionary struggles to achieve political goals especially to evict the Salazar regime from Goa. His book like "Sorrowing Lies My Land" makes ample evidence about his determination to get Goa liberated from the erstwhile Portuguese regime. Another classic was "In the womb of Saudades" where he depicts Goan life under colonial rule, others like "Heartbreak Passage" were true epics pertaining largely to ways of achieving freedoms of our people.

His penchant to progressively further the Goan cause of liberation will forever be enshrined and etched in memory of the young and old of this land.

All in all, a man of few words but his pen did all the mighty talking.
