Keep only yellow-black and tourist taxis in Goa

To avoid future problems with taxi operators, Goa should allow only yellow-black and tourist taxis. These should run on fixed, metered fares. Goan taxi drivers deserve a fair chance to earn their living. Yellow-black taxis have been part of Goa since the 1970s. Back then, Ambassador and Fiat cars were often used for shared travel. These taxis became a symbol of Goan identity and were an important part of public transport.

However, app-based taxi services have changed the situation. They now operate across Goa, creating strong competition for traditional taxis. Many tourists and locals have complained about high fares and poor behaviour by some drivers. This has damaged the image of the local taxi industry. Tourist taxis, which are not yellow-black, are usually run by individuals. They too have faced criticism. App-based services have given these operators more control over the market with cheaper-looking fares, but not always better service.

Taxi fares in Goa must be fair and affordable for passengers, just like in other states. There should be no political interference in the taxi business. All taxis should follow government rules and serve both locals and tourists in a proper, respectful way.
