Learn to deal with shack pollution along beaches

Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has identified 167 shacks operating without consent along Candolim and Calangute beaches and discharging sewage and wastewater in the open areas causing environmental pollution. GSPCB made this statement before the High Court of Bombay at Goa on March 28. Shacks and restaurants located on the beaches of Goa have been polluting the waters for years. With the hundreds of shacks that dot the Goan beaches, not many have a proper way of disposing food waste. Whilst the solid waste is collected, problem is with the waste from cooking oils/ fats/grease that have to be disposed. Most of all this is just dunked into the the sand for the elements to handle. This pollutes the beaches and seas. The Goa Government or the local panchayats hardly know how to deal with this menace. The Goa Pollution Board too seem to be mute witness to the environmental destruction.
