Reasons why Goans do not take up private sector jobs

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while addressing reporters after chairing a high-level meeting with key industry stakeholders on Wednesday has called on Goans to actively seek private sector jobs, warning that a continued reluctance could result in greater migration of workers from other states into Goa. Well, the reason why Goans are seen refusing to take up jobs in the private sector is because there's no job security as most of these private companies believe in 'hire and fire at will' policy. Plus, these private companies are well known for exploiting people and paying peanut salaries. It is due to the above reasons, most Goans are seen looking for jobs out of Goa and hunting only for govt jobs in the state. Because they know that even a SSC-passed peon, driver and a sweeper, employed as a staff in any government department goes to get a decent salary, plus perks and a huge pension too after retirement. I therefore feel that CM Sawant should instruct the proprietors/owners/managing directors of all private sector companies to first offer decent salaries for people already working in their firms.
