A ten-year-old braveheart Ankurkumar Sanjay Prasad, class IV student of Government Primary School, Cumbharjua reportedly saved the lives of three children from drowning in a river recently. It is understood that three children slipped and fell into the river while they were washing their faces. None of them could swim. Ankurkumar, who was riding a bicycle, decided to help the drowning children since he knew how to swim. It is learnt that he also performed chest compression on one of the children who was later admitted at the Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim and is out of danger. The little boy has shown exceptional courage and presence of mind in saving the lives of three children. Though he is a native of Bihar and currently resides at Cumbharjua with his parents, the Goa government should recommend his name for the National Bravery Award for Children. The National Bravery Awards are presented yearly to approximately 25 Indian youngsters under the age of 18 for meritorious acts of bravery against all odds.
