The recent suicide trend among IIT students is a very serious & sad issue and our Education Ministers must set up fair inquiry to ferret out the truth and address the problem in the best possible way. Educational institutions are supposed to be places where students feel secure and excited to learn. Of course, there can be cases of students who are not able to cope up with the course contents taught in these institutions, in which case such students should be given some counselling and asked to do something of their choice. Committing suicide is not an option under any circumstance. We need to build our resilience and we need to have inner strength to face difficulties. We need to find our calling & work hard to achieve our goals. Teachers should help students by counseling and assisting them to overcome their anxieties & stress. If the students are committing suicide on account of harassment by some faculty members, then such members should be dealt with an iron fist. Harassment towards anyone should not be tolerated at any cost in institutions across the country.
