Forest Minister Vishwajitbab Rane and Margao MLA Diggu were the cynosure of all eyes as they shared a perfect rapport when they descended at Sonsodo to launch the Urban Forest scheme. In fact, when the duo was walking around the newly-planted saplings, they came across a sapling tilting towards the ground. The Forest Minister was quick to make a remark that he and Diggu would together ensure that things will not come to such as a pass in the State. Scribes were left to wonder for a moment what message the Jr Rane was trying to convey before he asserted that Goa is in need of leadership by a senior politician like Diggu. Any takers?
Vijai’s absence at Sonsodo event raises eyebrows
Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai was conspicuous by his absence at Sonsodo when Forest Minister Vishwajitbab Rane and Margao MLA Diggu launched the Urban Forest scheme. It’s not clear whether Vijaibab intentionally stayed away from the programme or was out of station. What’s, however, has become a subject matter of debate in political circles is Vijaibab’s stand on the Urban Forest project at Sonsodo. For, he used to always take pride that he had got former CM late Manoharbai Parrikar to remediate the waste in order to set up a waste treatment plant. Incidentally, Vishwajitbab was singing praises of Diggu when the Sonsodo dump falls in Fatorda represented by Vijaibab. Any questions?
Damu puts onus on MLA to tackle woes in constituency
State BJP chief Damubab Naik’s remark there’s an elected MLA representing Fatorda to deal with issues makes reading interesting. Without taking arch rival, Vijaibab’s name, Damubab told the media that the MLA should handle the sewage issue plaguing Fatorda. That’s not all. The former two-time Fatorda MLA went on to say that it’s the responsibility of the MLA to handle illegal issues raising its ugly head in Fatorda. His stand has only thrown a question or two whether he would stay away from Fatorda’s active politics given his current status as BJP State president or whether it’s Damubab’s way of exposing the shortcomings of his arch rival. Wait and watch.
All eyes on Babu Naik’s grandson in emerging political turf war
With young city-businessman Chirag Naik embracing the Congress party, the focus is now centred on another youngster Prabhav Naik, who has time and again shown indications of challenging Diggu in the 2027. For, Prabhav, the grandson of former Minister late Babu Naik, is yet to disclose plans how he would go about the Assembly polls. The most vocal amongst Diggu’s challengers, Prabhav has stepped up his campaign by taking up issues plaguing the commercial capital. The moot question, however, remains unanswered – will Prabhav throw his hat in the election ring as an independent? Wait and watch.
Nat’l leaders presence at inductions signals AAP’s serious push in Goa
The Aam Aadmi Party seemed is on the move to induct leaders into the party fold ahead of the ensuing Zilla Panchayat polls and the 2027 Assembly election. The much-publicised induction of Srikrishna Parab in the presence of party top brass, Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi Marlena and Pankaj Gupta goes to show the importance the party has attached to the induction of leaders. Wait and watch as sources said the party has drawn up a list of prominent leaders hailing from other political outfits for induction in the party fold in the coming days.
