The battle to control the Goa Congress culminating in the suspension of five party leaders seemed far from over. In fact, the Congress High Command is now seized of the matter. If sources are to be believed the High Command has intervened by calling for details of the circumstances leading to the suspension episode. That the Congress High Command has called for a report on the suspension episode is being viewed in Congress circles as an indication that the anti-Amit camp too calls the shot in the scheme of things in Delhi. Wait and watch as the game seems not over yet.
When Cong suspension memo went viral on social media
Suspension of the five Congress leaders by GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar is finally out in the open. The moot question, however, remains unanswered is how the suspension of the five Congress leaders came in public domain, nearly a month after the GPCC chief had issued the orders on June 30? Well, the GPCC chief issued an office memorandum on July 25 instructing all the district presidents, heads of frontals, departments and cells not to associate/ involve with the suspended persons in any manner whatsoever, pending enquiry. Sources said the office memorandum found its way to the social media, before the news went viral. Any questions?
Is Goa Forward preparing road map to enter Benaulim?
Saxtti and South Goa figured prominently in Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s scheme of things when he took up cudgels for beleaguered farmers, be it on the delay in the disbursal of subsidy or damage to paddy crop by floods. He also did not spare the government when issues pertaining to Saxtti or down South came to the fore, prompting political observers to wonder whether the Goa Forward is preparing a road map to enter Fatorda’s immediate neighbourhood in Saxttidom. Take note, Vijaibab had air dashed to Delhi to call on Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to take up the construction of western bypass passing through Benaulim on stilts. Wait and watch.
As Kamat praises GWMC, questions over tender bid to remediate waste
Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu’s announcement showering praises on Goa Waste Management Corporation MD Levinsonbab Martins for remediating the decades-old Sonsodo legacy dump makes reading interesting. For, sources wondered if the GWMC had done a good job in remediating the Sonsodo dump, what had prompted the Margao Municipal Council and at whose behest to take the decision to float a tender to remediate the 10,000 metric tons of wet waste piled up inside the Sonsodo waste management shed. It’s another matter that the MMC proposal did not find favour with the government agency GSUDA. You know why.
Concerns over indifference between BJP-controlled MMC and SGPDA
Madgavkars sometimes wonder why the SGPDA markets are in a messy state when the much-talked about double engine government is in place and the two local bodies, the PDA and the Margao Municipal Council are all part of the double engine Sarkar? Many may further question why the MMC and the PDA are not on the same page in ensuring hygiene in the two mega markets, including Goa’s lone wholesale fish market owned by the PDA, when these two bodies are controlled by the saffron brigade. Indeed, time for introspection?
