Speculations over Cabinet berths to couple of turncoats after Dec 3

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | NOVEMBER 18, 2023, 12:46 AM IST

December 3 is the D-day for the BJP and Congress as results of elections for the five states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram, billed as the semifinal before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, will be out on that day. For Goa too, December 3 seemed equally important for leaders of the ruling BJP and the Congress, but for a different reason. Speculations are again rife that a couple of Congress turncoats may finally find a berth in the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet, but after December 3. A section of Congress party is hoping against hope that the High Command will take a call on the leadership issue after December 3. Any takers

Are Cuncolim polluting units thriving on blessings of VIPs?

Cuncolkars wonder whether the delay in cracking a whip against polluting units in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate has anything to do with VIP’s vested interest at the estate. In fact, names of couple of VIPs have been doing the rounds in local circles whether they have “percentage” interest, if any, in some of the units as a result of which the authorities have been loath in initiating action against the polluting units. “Percentage basis” seemed the new mantra in business ventures or collaborations and locals are on the job to find out whether any of the VIPs have any interest in the industrial units. Wait and watch.

New link? BJP MLA Salkar shuttles between Vasco and Telangana

Goa BJP leaders led by Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajitbab Rane have all descended in the high profile election for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls. Guess the BJP MLA who has been shuttling between Goa and Telangana in the run up to the Assembly election for the South Indian state. Well, one may question whether there’s any link between Goa’s Port Town of Vasco and distant Telangana. For, if sources are to be believed, Vasco MLA Daji Salkar has been literally shuttling between Vasco and Telangana after he was drafted by the BJP bosses for electioneering in the South Indian state. Any questions

With Sequeira in BJP, party eyes Nuvem votes for Lok Sabha polls

Has Congress-turned-BJP MLA Aleixobab Sequeira anything to say on Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s plea to the people of Nuvem to back the double engine BJP government? The CM’s statement assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the fact that the saffron brigade is gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Minority stronghold Nuvem had been Congress’ forte over the years with saffron brigade’s attempt to woo the voters coming a cropper in every election. Pramodbab must be certainly looking forward for votes in Nuvem with Aleixobab on the BJP side and the government initiating developmental projects. Wait and watch.

Digambar, Vijai bonhomie at Krishna Vijay Utsav

Guess the names of local politicians who shared the dais of the Krishna Vijay Utsav organised at Fatorda on the eve of Diwali this year? Well, the Krishna Vijay Utsav competition is funded and patronised by Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai. The festival evokes good response from the people as well as from the participating groups, besides politicians. It was a sheer coincidence that a couple of Margao councillors owing allegiance to the BJP and Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu shared the dais with Vijaibab. No prizes for the right guess.
