BJP gears up, Cong weighing options ahead of MMC polls
How would the Opposition go about fighting the election for the Margao Municipal Council scheduled early 2026? This question is doing the rounds in the commercial with less than a year to go for the civic polls. For, the BJP is on the job to strengthen its base post-return of Margao MLA Diggu back in the party fold. On the other hand, the Congress is making its presence felt in the city by raising civic issues plaguing the city. The moot question, however, remains unanswered – will the Congress prefer to go alone in the civic polls by contesting all the 25 seats at stake or enter into a tie-up with Goa Forward party. As gold prices soar, questions arise over security measures
When gold prices hit an all-time high earlier this week, with 10 gram gold commanding an all-time high rate of Rs 1 lakh, Diggu had an advice or two – it’s time to dispose of gold. What Diggu was trying to convey to the scribes was that people should en cash on the soaring gold prices before it returns back to normal. A scribe, however, was overheard asking whether the government has plans to intensify patrolling, fearing the rising gold prices may give rise to thefts and robberies. Any questions?

Former Velim MLA Filipe Neribab Rodrigues seemed preparing ground to make a political comeback in the 2027 Assembly polls. Sources say the former WRD Minister is on the job to cover lost ground with less than two years to go for the Assembly election. Many must have thought that Filipe Neribab had called it a day in politics after his innings ended with a massive defeat in 2022 when he was relegated way behind the main players. Filipe Neribab had tasted defeat in the 2012 Assembly election as well before he made a comeback in 2017. Wait and watch.

Former Chief Minister Luizinhbab Faleiro’s second book on Goa and the State’s future may be due for release by year end, but, what’s next on Luizinhbab’s agenda, may be a question asked in Saxtti political circles. Well, Luizinhbab does not rule out returning back to active public life, but with an apolitical movement to raise awareness amongst the people to protect the interests of Goa. Will the seasoned political campaigner restrict himself with the apolitical movement or will his new book, containing chapters on a host of policies, be a road map for his comeback. Wait and watch.
