For, the Urban Development Minister Vishwajitbab Rane appears firm in the cancellation of the recruitment process as evident by the fact neither the Minister has withdrawn his note nor the DMA Gurudasbab Pilarnekar has recalled his letter sent to the MMC, throwing up a moot question – has Diggu’s plea to cancel the recruitment process fallen on the government’s deaf ears? Questions are also being asked why did Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant not come to Diggu’s rescue when the cancellation of the recruitment would leave the fate of the BJP-ruled Margao Municipal Council in balance. Interesting, isn’t it.

Margao Municipal Chairperson Damubab Shirodkar has decided to continue in office after he apparently buried his hatchet with his mentor and MLA Diggu. Madgavkars, however, have a question or two to ask -- for how long is Damubab expected to remain in the saddle since he is scheduled to complete one year in office on October 12. It isn’t clear whether Damubab will step down from office after completing one year or after a year and half in office. Or, will Damubab play a long innings till the 2024 Lok Sabha polls or will he preside over the office beyond the coming polls. Indeed, many questions still remain unanswered.

Post-High Court order setting aside his OBC caste certificate, it may take some time to decide the fate of Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim Zilla Panchayat member Hanzelbab since the disqualification petition is scheduled to come up for hearing in October. That, however, have not stopped speculations along Saxtti coastal belt on the potential candidate likely to take a plunge in the election ring in the event Hanzelbab is disqualified from office. The Benaulim ZP constituency comprises of the villages of Benaulim, Varca, Orlim, Carmona and Cavelossim. There seemed to be no dearth of candidates ready to throw their hat in the election ring.
