MARGAO: Betalbatim Sports Club produced a dominant attacking display to thrash Varca Sports Club 8–1 and book their place in the quarterfinals of the Franco Gouveia Memorial Tournament, played at the DSYA Ground and organised by St Anthony Club Colva.
The match was effectively decided early, with Branson Fernandes striking in the 3rd minute to give Betalbatim a dream start. Varca struggled to recover as Prosen Mondal took full control of the first half, scoring a brilliant hat-trick in the 10th, 17th and 29th minutes. Raj Kerkar also got on the scoresheet in the 20th minute, helping Betalbatim head into halftime with a commanding 5–0 lead.
In the second half, Dickson Rogtao dictated proceedings in midfield with excellent passing and vision, while Gladwin Braganza added further pressure on Varca with a superb hat-trick, scoring in the 33rd, 45th and 47th minutes. Varca managed a late consolation goal through Jeffrey.
Prosen Mondal was named Man of the Match and was felicitated by Willy Fernandes, President of Future Stars Academy Dubai.
