Cavelossim Veterans shocked Benaulim Veterans 1-0 in the Benaulim Constituency 8-a-side Football Tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim and played at Panchayat Ground Seraulim.
The All important victory goal came in the 24th minute of the first half from the boots of Jana D'Costa whose power packed shot found the nets.
At the lemon break, Cavelossim Veterans led 1-0.
Benaulim although dominated the game with Nicholas being the main player spraying the ball all around the Cavelossim Territory failed to score for many reasons. At times Cavelossim goalkeeper Amogi Velnekar came to their rescue, they missed goal scoring opportunities that came their way and at times the defenders stood solid like a rock as Charles came in as an additional defender to keep the lead going.
Credit to Cavelossim Veterans for keeping their cool, playing smart and for using delay technics to keep the lead going. At times when they got the opportunity they also created some dangerous moves too through Raju.
With no goal being scored till the final whistle by Benaulim Veterans, Cavelossim stood to their lead and took away the match from Benaulim and paved their way into the finals which is slated for February 4.
