Chandor Club advanced to the finals of the Golden Jubilee of Chandor Seamen Football Tournament after a thrilling 7-6 penalty shootout win over United Club Sports Club, Seraulim, at the Chandor Church Complex ground. United Club had taken the lead in the 13th minute through Alden Fernandes, but Chandor equalised in the 40th minute with a penalty converted by Mark Fernandes. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time. In the ensuing shootout, Moises D’Sa, Hayden Fijardo, Mark Revlon, Mateus Gomes, Ashwell Peixoto and Mario Fernandes scored for Chandor. Moises D’Sa was named Hero of the Match. Chandor Club will face Curtorim Gymkhana in the final on September 21.

Fatorda Veterans down Varca in shootout

MARGAO: In the 23rd Veterans Football Tournament organised by Flame of Unity Sports Club, Fatorda Veterans edged Varca Veterans 5-4 in penalties after a 1-1 draw at Mabai ground, Per-Seraulim. Succoro Pereira put Varca ahead in the 3rd minute, but Narain Mistry equalised for Fatorda four minutes later. Both teams created opportunities in the second half, but the stalemate sent the game to penalties, where Fatorda prevailed.

DBO Fatorda beat CAC Cansaulim 2-1

MARGAO: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda defeated CAC Cansaulim 2-1 in Gold-Silver Rolling Trophy organised by Navelim Sporting Club, at Rosary Ground, Navelim. Charles Miranda and Hanslum Furtado scored for Don Bosco, while Cedroy D’Souza netted for CAC. Charles Miranda was named Man of the Match.

FC YFA edge Raia Sporting

MARGAO: In the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League, Futebol Club YFA edged Raia Sporting Club 1-0 at Raia Panchayat Ground thanks to a first-half goal by Adler Telles. St Rocks Youth Club, Calata Majorda, recorded a dominant 7-1 win over Dando Boys Club at St John De Baptist Ground, Benaulim.
