CRC Chinchinnim enter United Trophy quarters

CRC Chinchinnim defeated Canacona SCC 4-1 to enter the quarterfinals of the United Trophy football tournament organised by United Club of Telaulim at the Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Thursday.

CRC Chinchinnim made a flying start with Om Raikar scoring twice in the 4th and 7th minutes. Larson Rebello added another in the 22nd minute to give Chinchinnim a comfortable 3-0 lead at halftime. Canacona SCC pulled one back through Brenon Rodrigues in the 36th minute, but Laviston Rebello sealed the victory for CRC Chinchinnim with a goal in the 56th minute. Laviston Rebello (pictured left) of CRC Chinchinnim was adjudged Man of the Match. The award was presented by former footballer Nazareth Colaco.

FC Goa beat Sudeva Delhi in RFDL
MARGAO: FC Goa registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Sudeva Delhi FC in the Reliance Foundation Development League 2025-26 at the SSS Stadium in Shillong on Thursday. Both teams battled hard in the first half but failed to break the deadlock as the score remained goalless at the break. FC Goa showed greater urgency in the second half and eventually found the winner in the 70th minute when Ruell Gomes produced a clinical strike that left the Sudeva Delhi goalkeeper with no chance.

Saraswat Tigers win debut match
MARGAO: Debutants Saraswat Tigers began their campaign in the Sarsangan Priority Super Series Cricket tournament with a convincing five-wicket victory over MLT Cricket Club at the Arlem ground. Batting first, MLT Cricket Club posted 163/6 in 20 overs after recovering from an early collapse caused by Mehank Dharwadkar, who took 3/4 in his opening spell. Sarvesh Kamat (34), Gaurav Gaitonde (36) and Raghuvir Gharse (35) led the recovery. In reply, Saraswat Tigers chased down the target in 15.2 overs, reaching 164/5. Openers Neelay Naik Dalal (31) and Deval Karmali (34) gave the team a rapid start before Atchut Naik Dalal (36) and Mehank Dharwadkar (21) guided the side to victory. Mehank Dharwadkar was named Man of the Match.
Four Goa youngsters earn FIDE blitz ratings

PANAJI: Four young chess players from Goa have earned their FIDE International Blitz Ratings. Advait Barve, a 19-year-old first-year IT engineering student at the Government Engineering College, Farmagudi, Ponda, secured a blitz rating of 1531. Pratyush Shekhar Marathe, 14, a student of Vidhya Vruddhi School, Ponda, achieved a rating of 1465. Sumukha Shetty, 15, and Parth Morajkar, 14, both students of GVM’s A.J. de Almeida High School, Ponda, obtained blitz ratings of 1519 and 1431 respectively. All four players train under FIDE Instructor Wilson Cruz at Champion’s Chess Academy.
