Curtorim Gymkhana outplayed Navelim Sporting Club 3-1 to move to the quarter-finals of 15th Davorlim Cup organised by Sporting Club Davorlim, at Davorlim Panchayat ground, on Saturday.
The match started on a slow pace and both teams try to take control of the game but Navelim had the first opportunity to take lead as Prestly Gomes left footer punched away for corner by Johnson goalkeeper of Curtorim in the 16th minute while Curtorims Mario Mascarenhas' 30-yard shot kissed the hands of Jit Gupta and hit the cross bar to give lead for Curtorim before half time. Curtorim Gymkhana lead 1-0 at the half time.
Changing over, Navelim attack Curtorim defence and Meliston gave through pass to Sandroy Costa who placed the ball to the far corner to get equaliser beating the Curtorim keeper. In the next minute, due to Navelim goalkeeper's error, Anselm Fernandes scored in 40th minute. Later, he completed his brace by scoring second goal in injury time.
Anselm Fernandes was presented with the man of the match award by Marcel Miranda vice-president of Davorlim Sporting Club.
