Fatorda Veterans defeated Navelim Veterans 8-7 via tiebreaker to win the Betalbatim Kala Mogi Veterans Cup at Betalbatim Panchayat ground on Sunday.
Rosario Carvalho of Fatorda took a powerful shot but it was saved by Navelim goalkeeper Avertano Furtado in the 7th minute. Sukdev of Navelim then opened the scoring in the tenth minute before Ricardo netted the second goal for the team in the 12th minute.
Sukhdev made it 3-0 for Navelim in the 15th minute. However, Rosario Carvalho netted a hat-trick, scoring for Fatorda Veterans in the 23rd, 26th and 30th minutes to level the terms.
In the tiebreaker, Fatorda Veterans netted through Rosario, Vincent, Rocky, Savio and Jaku. Navelim Veterans scored through Sukhdev, Camilo, Orlando and Claudio as they fell short of the title.
Individual prizes: Man of the match & first scorer - Rosario Carvalho (Fatorda), Best goalkeeper - Avertano Furtado (Navelim Veterans), Best disciplined team - United Club of Seraulim Veterans.
Mickky Pacheco, the former sports minister, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of senior tiatrist M Platilda Afondo e Dias, other dignitaries and club officials.
