Swavel Furtado's hat-trick was the difference as Dempo Sports Club trounced Youth Club of Manora 4-0 in the GFA's First Division League at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Monday.
The Dempo Colts led 1-0 at halftime. Right from the opening whistle, Dempo showcased their attacking prowess, with Swavel leading the charge. A few early attempts culminated in a goal, as Swavel's precise shot found the back of the net to break the deadlock in the 13th minute.
Swavel swiftly struck again to double Dempo’s lead. After the change of ends, Manora tried to mount a comeback but they were unable to capitalise on a free-kick opportunity. Swavel scored his hat-trick in the 61st minute. Ashon Vaz fired the fourth goal past Manora.
Goa Police rout Velsao SCC 5-0
Kunal Salgaonkar netted a hat-trick as Goa Police trounced Velsao Sports and Cultural Club 5-0 in the GFA First Division League at Cansaulim Sports Complex on Monday. Kunal scored in the 49th, 70th and 87th minutes while Mayuresh Naik (1st) and Gauresh Dessai (33rd) were the other scorers for the winners.
Vasco Veterans shoot past Viva Goa North
Vasco Veterans prevailed over Viva Goa North Veterans 4-2 via the tiebreaker and moved into the quarter-finals of the 20th Flame of Unity Sports Club veterans football tournament at Mabai ground, Per-Seraulim on Monday.
Vasco opened the scoring in the 2nd half through Andrew Teodosio before Ramesh Palkar inflated the lead, scoring in the 35th and 40th minutes. But the joy was short-lived as Viva Goa North equalised with goals in the 55th and 60th minutes through Alex Alvares and Claudio. In tie-breaker, Vasco Veterans proved to be the better shooters. Sanjay Da Costa of Seraulim was the chief guest for the match.
