MARGAO
Chapora Youth Club produced a dominant performance to thrash Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 7-0 in a GFA First Division League playoff match held at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.
Chapora controlled proceedings from the outset, exploiting defensive lapses and a visibly weakened Cavelossim side, who struggled due to a depleted bench. The situation worsened for Cavelossim as both Aryan Carvalho and Dravid were shown red cards, leaving them with nine men and compounding the challenges for coach Donald Fernandes.
St Anthony’s stay unbeaten
Meanwhile, at the Vagator Ground, St Anthony’s SC Marna, Siolim continued their impressive run in the playoffs by securing a narrow 1-0 win over neighbours Candolim SC to maintain their unbeaten record.
The decisive goal came in the 80th minute through Nethan D’Souza, who latched onto a well-placed ball to find the net and secure all three points. Candolim's hopes of a late equaliser were dashed when defender A Shaikh received a red card, further hampering their chances.
