Goa University qualified for the All India Inter University Football Championship 2022-23 to be held in Gwalior after advancing in the ongoing West Zone Inter University Football Women's Championship 2022-23 at Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Gwalior.
In the qualifying matches, Goa University won four consecutive knockout matches. In the first match, they defeated Banasthali University Rajasthan 10-0. Karen Estrocio scored a hat-trick, Aniela Barretto netted a brace while Rizella Cia Almeida, Rhea Pires, Jossel Mascarenhas, Aqsa Sayed and Namita S Govekar scored a goal each.
In the second match, they defeated Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur 8-0. Karen Estrocio again scored a hat-trick while Aniela Barretto notched up a brace. Aqsa Sayed, Pushpa A Parab and Joyvi Fernandes netted a goal each.
In the third match, Goa University defeated Maharaja Sahayaji Rao University, Baroda 5-0. Rizella Cia Almeida and Karen Estrocio scored a brace each while Rhea Pires scored the other goal. In the playoff match, Goa University defeated defending champions SP University, Pune 2-0 with Aniela Barretto and Karen Estrocio on the mark.
In the first match of the league stage played on Saturday, Goa University defeated the University of Kota, Kota 4-0. Aniela Barretto and Karen Estrocio scored a brace each in the easy win. Goa University will play two more matches in the league, against University of Mumbai and hosts LNIPE, Gwalior. The results of these league matches will decide the champions of West Zone Inter University Football for women.
