3 more pugilists from the Goa team moved to the quarter-finals bringing the total number of Goan boxers in the next round to 10 in the on going 37th National Games at the Peddem SportsComplex, Mapusa.
In the Elite Men 48-51kg Fly category, AK Roshanzamir of Goa defeated Anchit Sharma of Delhi through RSCI (RSC-Injury). In the Elite Men 67-71kg Light Middle category, Rajat of Goa won against Malsawmkima of Mizoram by a unanimous point decision of 5:0. Rajat showed his superior skills and technique in the ring and outboxed his opponent in all three rounds. In the Elite Women 48-50kg Light Fly category, Sakshi of Goa won against Kalpana of Haryana by a score of 5:0. Sakshi put up a good fight against her opponent securing her spot in the quarter-finals.
President of Goa Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), Franky Veigas praised the boxers who have qualified to the quarter-finals so far."We are proud of the boxers who have successfully made it to the quarter-finals of the 37th National Games. They have put in a lot of hardwork and dedication to achieve this feat. We are confident that our boxers will qualify to the finals and bring home glory in the form of gold medals," he said.
The other boxers from Goa who have qualified for the quarter-finals are Lokesh (Elite Men 75-80 kg Light Heavyweight), Sai Ayush (Elite Men 86-92 kg Heavyweight), Niharika (Elite Women 57-60 kg Lightweight), Chanu Sanamacha (Elite Women 70-75 kg Middleweight), Panda Prahlad (Elite Men 54- 57KG Feather), Chouhan Gaurav (Elite Men 92+KG Super Heavy) and Jampula Shrisha (Elite Women 63-66KG Welter).
