Goans Hockey lose to Hockey Rajasthan in junior categories

Hockey Rajasthan defeated Goans Hockey 4-1 in the Hockey India’s West Zone Junior girls match at Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.

Laxmi’s hat-trick (18’, 26’, 37’) was pivotal forRajasthan, alongside a goal from Gayatri Mahavar (12’). Prachi Parshuram Yadav(27’) scored the lone goal for Goans Hockey.

The girls’ team had lost their first two matches conceding 18 goals without any reply in the Group B matches. In their first match they went down by 13-0 to Hockey Maharashtra and in the second match they lost 5-0 to Dadra & Nagar Haveli,Daman and Diu. In Group A, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Hockey and Hockey Gujarat are vying for the top place.

Hockey Rajasthan defeated Goans Hockey, 4-2 at the same venue. Shahjafar Ansari (3’) initially gave Goans Hockey the lead,but Hockey Rajasthan responded with goals from Ravinder Singh Rajvi (15’, 19’,53’) and Gurjar Manvendra (45’).

Kiran Suresh Lamani (42’) added a goal forGoans Hockey. The junior boys thus drew a blank losing their earlier two matches, going down 14-1 to Hockey Madhya Pradesh with Shahjafar Ansaris coring the only goal of the match.

In the second match, Hockey Maharashtra won 13-0, the Goans have so far conceded 31 goals scoring four goals.They next take on Chhattisgarh Hockey on July 25 and end their league engagements with a match against Hockey Gujarat on July 27.

The Sub-junior boys trained by Madgaonkar Aviraj lost their first match of the West zone to Chhattisgarh Hockey 11-1 but the icing was the goal from Ansh Gaonkar.

Ansh of Goans Hockey, a student of Damodar English High School Guddi Paroda from Salcete, was awarded as Player of the Match for scoringan exceptional goal.

His sheer brilliance and stick work on view as he dribbled and beat six to seven players of the Chhattisgarh team on his way to scoring the goal.His efforts were appreciated by all the Hockey India members, fans and officials who were present on the ground.

Goa next play Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu today and end their league engagements against Gujarat on July 27 in the Group B matches.

Group A consists of Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Maharashtra and Hockey Rajasthan.

In the group Sub Junior girls’ section played also at Surat, Goans Hockey had lost the first match on Tuesday to Hockey Madhya Pradesh 13-0 and yesterday went down to Hockey Maharashtra 3-1. They will play their next three matches against Chhattisgarh Hockey (July 26), Hockey Rajasthan (July 27) and Hockey Gujarat (July 29).
