Goa’s Leena Pednekar Dhapre brought glory to the state and the country by clinching the bronze medal at the Amazing Thailand–Pattaya BWF World Senior Championships 2025.
The former Goa state champion showcased her skill in the women’s singles category, notching a memorable victory over Japan’s K. Kimura in the earlier rounds. Leena’s spirited campaign came to an end in the semifinals where she lost to Sri Lanka’s Renu Chandrika de Silva Hettiarachchige 16-21, 17-21, thus finishing with a well-deserved bronze medal.
Congratulating Leena on her achievement, Manoj Patil, President of the Goa Badminton Association (GBA), said: “Leena’s incredible fitness levels and fighting spirit are truly commendable. Even today, she competes at the highest level with remarkable consistency and passion.
