Registration has opened for the 14th Wings for Life World Run, with Goa participants set to join the global race from Miramar Beach on May 10.
The community-driven initiative, which promotes health and fitness while raising funds for spinal cord injury research, returns after thirteen successful editions. Participants in Goa can assemble at Miramar Beach and be part of the inclusive run, which is open to people of all fitness levels.
Interested individuals can register online, with the entry fee set at Rs 1,300. Organisers stated that the entire registration amount will be donated to the Wings for Life foundation, which supports research aimed at finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
Former Olympic silver medallist and two-time world champion Colin Jackson serves as the International Sports Director for the event.
The run follows a unique format, with no fixed finish line. Instead, a “catcher car” begins pursuit 30 minutes after the start, gradually increasing speed. A participant’s race ends once the car overtakes them. While major locations feature a physical catcher car, others are tracked virtually through the event app.
The 2025 edition recorded a participation of 310,719 runners from 191 nationalities across 170 countries. Participants collectively averaged 12.4 km, covering a distance equivalent to nearly 64 laps around the equator, while raising a record Rs 82 crore.
Japan’s Jo Fukuda set a new men’s distance record with 71.67 km, while Germany’s Esther Pfeiffer topped the women’s category with 59.03 km.
Since its inception in 2014, the Wings for Life World Run has seen over 1.87 million participants raise €60.53 million. The foundation has supported 324 research projects and clinical trials since 2004, all selected through a rigorous process.
Organisers said the event continues to provide a platform for elite athletes, amateurs and first-time participants to come together for a global cause while contributing to society.
