Group Delta Mangalore won the 8th hard tennis-ball cricket tournament organised by Mormugao Ship Agents Association (MSAA) at MPT Baina ground. Mangalore beat Vedanta by eight wickets in the final, easily chasing down a 45-run target in five overs.
Fourteen teams from the shipping fraternity in Goa and other States including Mangalore Port, MPA, Custom, JSW, Adani, Vedanta, Fomento, CHA, MRH Transporters, etc, participated in the two-day tournament held on February 4 & 5 in a 6-8-over-per-side format.
The chief guest for the tournament was GP Rai, deputy chairman, Mormugao Port Authority, and the guest of honour was Jerome Clement, senior deputy traffic manager, Mormugao Port Authority. Dr Mangesh Patil, Port Health Officer, Mormugao, Capt Arun Kumar, Harbour Master MPA, Radhakant, South West Port Ltd and Sandesh Kundaikar, MSAA promoter, attended the function and presented trophies with cash prizes.
