A tale of two halves as Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem took on Cortalim Villagers Social Welfare Sports Club in a thrilling 2-2 draw in the GFA Professional league, at Nuvem Panchayat Sports Complex, on Friday.
The first half of the game was dominated by Guardian Angel who exhibited exceptional teamwork and precision but could not score due to tardy marksmanship.
At the other end, Cortalim Villagers Social too had few scoring chances but their forwards shot way ward from close range .
The second half began with both teams eager to break the deadlock. In the 49th minute, Guardian Angel Sports Club managed to breakthrough. Gilbert Oliveira in midfield delivered a precise through ball to defender Fulgencio Cardozo who showcased remarkable composure and slotted the ball into the net to give Guardian Angel the lead.
After conceding the first goal, Cortalim Villagers pressed high in search of the equaliser and in injury time Velroy Carvalho flicked the ball into the net to level the score. Spurred by the equaliser, Cortalim Villagers Social Welfare Club intensfied their attacks but failed to get past the rival rearguard. Substitute Godwin Fernandes regained the lead for Guardian Angel in the 90th plus six minute. Cortalim Villagers substitute Micheal Nevil Dias neutralised the lead in the 90th plus nine minute.

It was the home side that drew first blood in the 34th minute when Pratik Naik found the net. Spurred by the sucess, Dempo upped the ante and Khaigunhaio Haokip slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot before the lemon break.
Substitute Syeyash Naik added his name to the scorer-list in the 80th minute. Sesa FA struck twice through Joshua D'Silva in the 81st and 88th minutes. Faseen PK hammered the final nail into the Sesa FA coffin in the second half injury time.
