FC Goa recently achieved their first clean sheet and victory of the season at Fatorda, with striker Armando Sadiku, along with teammates Dejan Dravic and Brison Fernandes, scoring in a 3-0 win. So far this season, Sadiku has been impressive, netting a total of seven goals and providing one assist in six matches in the Indian Super League. His scoring streak extends beyond ISL, as he has also found the net in the Bandodkar Memorial Trophy in every match he has played.
In a recent chat with TheGoan, Sadiku reflected on his performance, the team's progress, and his goals for the season.
Q: Armando, you scored the first goal in a crucial match and helped secure a clean sheet. How do you feel about that performance?
Armando: I’m really happy to score and to win here in Fatorda for the first time this year. We’re all pleased with the result, and we want to keep this momentum going.
Q: You’re currently in the race for the highest goal scorer, but NorthEast United FC’s Alaaeddine Ajaraie has taken the lead. How does that affect you?
Armando: Honestly, I don’t focus on individual accolades like that. The most important thing for me is the team’s success. I’m a bit disappointed because I believe we have a great team that could be at the top, but we lost some early matches. Now, we have a positive outlook. My goal is to win with FC Goa and lift the trophy. We need to keep pushing to win our next games and aim for a spot in the top five.
Q: With Punjab FC coming up next, how do you plan to approach that match?
Armando: It’s going to be another tough game. After playing against Bengaluru, we took some time to recover and trained hard. We are ready to bounce back against Punjab FC at Fatorda. I believe everyone will give 100% in front of our fans, and we aim to win this match.
Q: How has the mood in the team changed from before the Bengaluru FC game to now?
Armando: There’s definitely a difference. Initially, we faced some injuries, which made things a bit challenging for us. The atmosphere was a little tense. But now, I think we’ve clarified our roles on the pitch. We need to build on this victory and continue moving forward.
Q: What message do you have for the fans of FC Goa?
Armando: Our fans are fantastic, and we really want them to come out in large numbers to support us. We need their backing. We’ll do our best to win the next game, and together, we can achieve great things and grow stronger as a team.
