IM Ethan leads in State U15 Chess Championship

Top seed International Master Ethan Vaz (2370) from Salcete secured a victory against Mayuresh Desai (1635) from Sattari in the fourth round of the State Selection Tournament for the National U-15 Chess Championship.

With this win, Vaz remains in joint lead with Rajveer Patil (1635) from Mormugao, who caused an upset by defeating AFM Edrick Vaz (1797) from Salcete on the second board.

In another matchup on the third board, Shubh Vishnu Borkar (1738) from Salcete drew with Ekka Aniket (1622) from Mormugao, while Sahil Shetty (1533) from Mormugao triumphed over Shlok Mesta from Mormugao on the fourth board. Following closely behind the leaders are Ekka Aniket, Saras Powar, and Sahil Shetty, all with 3.5 points.

In the girls' section, Rachel Pereira (1549) from Salcete drew with Saeeja Gunesh Desai (1496) on the top board. Both players share the lead with Vaishnavi Vijay Parab (1501) from Bicholim, who won against Kaya Renee Coutinho (1527) from Salcete on the third board.

On the second board, Shriya Patil (1550) drew with Israa Rikarty (1506), leaving both players with 3 points. Avni Atul Kamat (1484) from Salcete also drew with Jennica Sequeira (1510) on the fourth board.

The tournament is organized by the Salcete Taluka Chess Association under the aegis of Goa Chess Association.
