22-year-old Johanne Pinto has grabbed the honour of being the youngest winner at the just concluded Goa Bridge Festival of Goa. He did so after 3 days of grueling play against some of the best senior players in India.
“Alongside studying to be a mechanical engineer, Johanne has represented India at 3 Junior Bridge World Championships. His success at this tournament is no surprise.”, said Prasad Keni, President of the Bridge Association of India.
The 2025 edition of the Goa Bridge Festival was amongst the best attended ever. The field included more than 90 pairs, including many national and international players, competing in 3 categories.
“A special feature of this years tournament was the focus on lady Bridge players and the juniors”, said
Vikram Vepa, President of the Goa Bridge Federation. “Bridge is a card game that develops analytical and memory skills. We are committed to make the sport more popular with a wider section of the society. The annual festival is a part of our effort”, he added.
“Next year we plan to hold the Asia Cup in Goa. This is the second most important international Open Bridge Tournament, after the Bermuda Bowl. I look forward to putting Goa on the international Bridge calendar and circuit.” Keni added.
