Margao Sports Club secured a spot in the semifinals of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup 2025 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Benfica Youth Club Vasco in the quarterfinal clash held at the Moll Ground, Assolda, on Monday. The tournament is being organised by St. Anthony Sports Club Assolda.
The match began on a cautious note, with both teams struggling to control the ball on the slippery surface. Despite creating a few chances, neither side could find the breakthrough in the first half, which ended goalless.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute of the second half, when Richie Vaz found the back of the net for Margao SC with a well-placed finish that proved to be the match-winner.
Sidney Lucas of Benfica Youth Club was named Man of the Match for his commendable performance despite his team’s loss.
