Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag secured a hard-fought 3-0 win over Madel Sports Club via a penalty shootout to book their place in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club. The match was held on Friday at the St. Alex Church ground in Curtorim.
Both teams displayed attacking intent throughout the match and created several chances but failed to convert, resulting in a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Jolly Boys held their nerve with successful conversions from Joeban, Ryan, and Nathan, while Madel SC failed to convert any of their spot-kicks.
Despite the loss, Saish Korgaonkar of Madel Sports Club was named the Man of the Match. He was presented the award by Standly Fernandes, a member of Agxem Sports Club.
