Leitao Memorial Cup: Ambelim SC edge past Dicarpale 7-6

Ambelim SC beat Dicarpale SC 7-6 via tiebreaker to enter the semifinals of the Fr Bruno Leitao Memorial football tournament at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim on Thursday.

After a goalless regulation time, Richard Fernandes, Vishal Arakar, Steno Rebello, Perryson Fernandes, Clins Pinto, Asfin Pinto and Ozen Silva netted for Ambelim SC in the tiebreaker. William Niasso, Francisco Colaco, Mack Borges, Velington Rocha, Clifton Rebello and Agnelo Colaco found the target for Dicarpale. The Man of the Match prize was awarded to Ozen Silva of Ambelim SC.

Ronit SC down Aivao Utd 3-1
Ronit Sports Club humbled Aivao United Football Club 3-1 in the GFA Second Division League of the Ilhas zone played at Taleigao ground on Thursday.

The first half was dominated by Aviao United, where they found a breakthrough through Rohit Billing in the 17th minute. In the second half, Ronit SC opened their scoring through Pritesh Kankonkar in the 78th minute. Dattaraj Konthambikar scored a brace for Ronit to give them three points.

Meanwhile, United Boys of Ambaulim defeated United Club of Telaulim 6-0. Alex Fernandes scored a hat-trick for the winners while Royal Oliveira, Teron Fernandes and Masilen Fernandes were the other goal-scores for United Boys of Ambaulim.

SFX Siolim win sub-junior handball title
SFX Siolim trounced Daniella SC of Navelim 21-3 to emerge champions of the 9th Sub-Junior State Handball Championship for boys, organised by Goa Handball Association at SAG Fatorda handball court.

In the semifinals, SFX Siolim defeated Shishu Vikas 9-4 while Daniella SC beat Perpetual HS 6-2. The third place was bagged by Perpetual HS by defeating Shishu Vikas 9-4.

Preston Dias and Nisham Morge of SFX Siolim were adjudged as the best player and goalkeeper of the tournament respectively. Vice-chairperson of Margao Municipal Council, Deepali Sawal, was the chief guest and handed over the prizes.

Advocates Cricket League from Feb 11
PANAJI: The fourth edition of the Advocates Cricket League T20, organised by a group of lawyers in Goa, with the support of advocate Saresh Lotlikar, will kick off on February 11 at GCA ground in Porvorim. Eight teams -- Stars, Hurricanes, Lawyer’s Challengers, Royal 11, Mapusa Troopers, Vintage Mapusa, Risers Panjim and Panjim Rockers will compete in the league to be played on the weekends (February 11, 12, 18), with the finals to be played under floodlights on February 19. The knockout stage is complete and two teams, Panjim Rockers and Royal 11 have already been eliminated. The matches can be viewed live on the YouTube channel Photosonic Live.
