A group of Loutolim villagers on Monday questioned the construction of a Cricket Stadium in the village, alleging that the ground lacks proper documentation.

Dattaprasad Bandodkar, representing the promoters, however, told the media that the project has got the clearance of the Investment Promotion Board, besides approvals from the concerned agencies.

Bandodkar further said that they are ready and willing to take permissions, if any, that are required to be taken as insisted by the villagers.

In the meantime, the Loutolim Panchayat body will have a body meeting on Tuesday morning to deliberate and decide on the cricket stadium. Village Sarpanch Rylon Fernandes told the media that the stadium has been built without the mandatory conversion sanad.

Villager Chiquito told the media at the stadium construction site that the work on the stadium is being carried out sans the mandatory sanad. That’s not all. Pointing out that high tension electric lines are passing by the stadium, he said the electric rules mandates leaving certain portion of an area coming under the high tension wires.

Questioning the inauguration scheduled on Tuesday, Chiquito wondered whether the promoters of the project have obtained the completion certificate from the local village Panchayat.

Dattaparasd Bandodkar, representing the promoters of the project told the media that the promoters are willing to obtain any permission that have not been taken so far. “We have got the clearance from the IPB, besides licenses from other authorities. This 5000-seating capacity stadium will be utilised for a cricket academy wherein youngsters from across Goa can come here for training. Given that the project is coming up at Loutolim, we have made it clear that local youth will be considered for employment”, Bandodkar added.
