Loyola High School, Margao, thumped St. Xavier’s High School, Velim, 4–0 in the final of the Salcete Football Club U-12 Football Festival held at Sinquetem, Navelim, on Saturday.
In a completely one-sided encounter, Loyola dominated the match from the start. If not for a series of brilliant saves by St. Xavier’s goalkeeper Aden Fernandes, the scoreline could have been much higher.
Loyola’s goals were scored by Velroy, Aidan, Aslan, and Caleb.
Nathan of Loyola was awarded the Man of the Match. His teammates Aston and Velroy were honoured as Best Defender and Best Midfielder respectively, while Aden Fernandes of St. Xavier’s was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper.
Former India captain Climax Lawrence was the chief guest and presented the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Salcete Football Club President Agnelo Fernandes and other Salcete FC officials.
