Maina SC Curtorim secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Varca Sports Club in the 34th Super Soccer Football Tournament held at the Benaulim Panchayat Ground.
Anslem Fernandes gave Maina an early lead in the 3rd minute, skillfully weaving past two defenders before slotting the ball past the Varca goalkeeper. Varca responded quickly, with Dylan Lama leveling the score in the 5th minute, setting up an intense battle throughout the first half. Just before halftime, Savio Peixeto restored Maina’s advantage, putting them ahead 2-1.
After the break, Varca adjusted their tactics by moving Clayton Lewis into midfield, which paid dividends as Aaron Rodrigues found the net in the 43rd minute to make it 2-2. It was Manuel Castanha who scored the decisive goal for Maina in the 50th minute.
Anslem Fernandes was named Man of the Match.
