Harsh Mane, Tejan Fallary, Yash Desai, Sakshi Kurbhelgi and Ashmeet Parsekar emerged victorious in multiple categories, securing double crowns each in the Late Pandurang Prabhu Moye State Badminton Ranking 2023 at badminton hall, Peddem.
Karan Dhavaskar and Janhavi Mahale were at their best to emerge champions in the men’s and women’s singles section. Others who emerged as double crown winners were Sparsh Kolwalkar, Advait Balakrishnan, Shreya Mehta, Sufiya Shaikh and Astrid Dias. Michael Ryan Mare (BS U11), Avni Khyalia (GSU11), Anaya Kamat (GD U13), Shane D'Souza and Saanvi Audi (U15 Mixed Doubles), Aarush Pawaskar (U15 BD), Lydia Barreto (Senior Mixed Doubles), Arjun Bhagat (U17 BD), Soumya Deshpande (U17GD), Malaika Lobo and Synnovia Dsouza (GDU19), Shivanjali Thite (GDU15) and Arnav Saraf (BDU13) were the other notable winners in the season-opening tournament.
The first Ranking tournament in the 2023-24 GBA Calendar season was organised by Mapusa Shuttlers in association with Goa Badminton Association and the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs. The five-day event witnessed over 350 entries with Goa’s best players competing for top honours in an exceptional display of talent and determination.
In the men’s singles finals, top seed Karan Dhavaskar prevailed over Ayaan Shaikh, emerging winner in an engaging 21-15 15-21 21-12 match. The women’s singles finals witnessed a commanding performance by Janhavi Mahale who defeated Aarohi Coutoncar 21-12 21-8.
In the men's doubles section, Arjun Fallary and Tejan Fallary emerged victorious, defeating Floyd Araujo and Fredrick Fernandes 21-18, 21-15. Tejan Fallary and Lydia Barreto triumphed over Aryaman Saraf and Nidhi Dessai with a score of 22-20, 21-19 to secure the senior mixed doubles title.
