MARGAO: Parish Youth Nuvem edged past Guardian Angel Sports Club 5–4 via a tie-breaker after a goalless draw in regulation time to book a place in the final of the 2nd Late Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy, organised by United Club of Verna, at the Village Panchayat Ground, Verna, on Saturday.
Both teams put up a disciplined performance, with neither side able to break the deadlock until the final whistle, forcing the match into a decisive penalty shootout.
In the tie-breaker, Parish Youth Nuvem converted their penalties through Leloy Colaco, Shenoy Colaco, Luis Barreto, Royston Mascarenhas, Myson Pereira and Joywin Costa. For Guardian Angel SC, Fhezer Gomes, Jimson Fernandes, Regan Costa, Daniel D’Costa and Richard Fernandes found the net.
Luis Barreto of Parish Youth Nuvem was adjudged Man of the Match. The award was presented by Eli D’Costa, former player of Vasco Sports Club.
