Goan swimmer Sanjana Prabhugaonker won a bronze medal in 100m backstroke at the National Aquatic Swimming Championship 2023 (39th Sub-junior & 49th Junior) at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

Sanjana clocked 1:07.63 to finish third. Ridhima Veerendrakumar of Karnataka (1:05.85) won the gold while her state mate Shalini Dixit (1:06.51) won the silver.

Nat Games tennis trials at BPS Club
The BPS Sports Club in Margao will host selection trials for tennis players keen on competing in the upcoming 37th National Games, which are scheduled to be held in Goa later this year.

The first phase of selection trials for men and women tennis players will be held on August 26 and 27 at the Margao-based club from 9 am onwards. The much-delayed National Games are scheduled to be held in Goa between October 25 to November 9. Over 7,000 athletes will compete in over 30 sports categories in the country’s biggest multi-sports event.

Tiatrists win St Pius Cup
Tiatrists defeated Pastoralites Priests to win the St Pius Cup 2023 football tournament at Old Goa. Br Denzyl of Pastoralites was given the Best Player of the Tournament award while Myron Correia of Tiatrists was handed the Winning Goal of the Tournament award.

Calvaddo move into quarterfinals
MARGAO: Calvaddo defeated Pedda (B) 6-1 to move into the quarterfinals of the United Boys of Varca inter-ward football tournament at Varca ground.

Wilson of Calvaddo scored the first hat-trick of the tournament while Lyndon netted a brace. Usaian scored the other goal in the first half for Calvaddo. Pedda scored the lone goal through Jurel in the last minute.
