Sporting Clube de Goa delivered a decisive second-half performance to defeat Clube de Salgaocar 4-0, turning early control into a commanding result, on Saturday.

Sporting began with intent and tested Salgaocar’s defensive shape in the opening phase. The breakthrough arrived in the 18th minute when Ivon Costa found Doyal Alves with a measured pass and the forward finished with composure to put Sporting ahead.

Salgaocar attempted to respond through set pieces and earned several corners but failed to translate possession into clear chances. Sporting went into the interval with a deserved 1-0 lead, despite a brief stoppage when Kunal Kundaikar was cautioned following a protest against the referee’s decision.

The second half saw Sporting accelerate. In the 53rd minute Joyson Gauncar’s delivery released Rohan Rodrigues who doubled the lead with a controlled finish. Salgaocar had an opportunity to reduce the deficit around the 70th minute but wasted a clear opening.

That miss proved costly. Moments later Doyal Alves exploited space behind the defence and finished clinically for his second goal of the night. Sporting sealed the contest late on when Dattaraj Gaonkar’s long ball was converted by Rohan Rodrigues who completed his brace in the 88th minute.

Sporting maintained their grip on the game through the final minutes and at full time emerged 4-0 winners after a composed and controlled display.
